About Acorn Woman Lakes Campground
How does Acorn Woman Lakes Campground redefine tent camping? With walk-in-only sites nestled along the shores of two serene mountain lakes in the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest, this scenic retreat offers unparalleled solitude, exceptional fishing, and direct trail access. The campground’s location amid towering conifers creates a tranquil ambiance, while its distinctive car-free design ensures an immersive wilderness experience.
This tent-only campground features 10 individual and 5 group sites, each requiring a short hike—ranging from 0.25 to 1.5 miles—from the parking area, ensuring visitors are immersed in nature. Facilities include picnic tables, fire rings, and vault toilets, but campers should bring their own drinking water, as the on-site pump is currently unavailable. Little Acorn Woman and Acorn Woman Lakes are non-motorized, perfect for canoeing or paddle boating, and offer anglers unique opportunities with native coastal cutthroat trout and other species. Hiking trails, such as the one-mile interpretive Little Acorn Woman Trail and the two-mile Summit Lake Trail, provide additional scenic exploration.
Situated about 23 miles southwest of Jacksonville, Oregon, the campground is a gateway to the Applegate Recreation Area. Within a short drive, visitors can explore the Applegate Dam or enjoy the vibrant foothills of southwest Oregon. Ideal for weekend escapes or extended stays, Acorn Woman Lakes Campground delivers a challenging yet rewarding outdoor adventure.
