Campground Overview
About Ahupuaʻa ʻO Kahana State Park
With scenic beachfront campsites just steps from Kahana Bay and framed by the verdant slopes of the Koʻolau Mountains, the Ahupuaʻa ʻO Kahana State Park campground offers a rare combination of natural beauty, cultural heritage, and outdoor adventure. This intimate campground has just 10 tent sites, each equipped with picnic tables for outdoor dining, and provides access to stunning views and a sense of tranquility. While the camp lacks operational showers, modern restrooms and potable water are available, adding convenience to your stay.
Located on Oʻahu’s northeastern coast between Kaʻaʻawa and Punaluʻu, the park is a gateway to exploring one of Hawaii’s few remaining ahupua‘a, an ancient Hawaiian land division extending from the mountains to the sea. Visitors can enjoy nearby hiking trails such as the Nakoa Trail, a rainforest loop crossing streams, or the Kapaʻeleʻele Koʻa trail, which leads to cultural sites and panoramic vistas of the bay. The beach itself is ideal for swimming or kayaking, with fewer crowds than many of Oʻahu's popular waterfronts. Within 30 minutes, travelers can also explore the Polynesian Cultural Center or savor local flavors at Kahuku’s famous food trucks, adding depth to an already immersive experience.
