Airport Flat Campground

Set amid the rugged beauty of Eldorado National Forest, Airport Flat Campground offers a secluded escape, ideal for group camping, with a unique design featuring pods that accommodate 15 to 25 people. The campground is defined by its serene forested surroundings of pine and fir, proximity to Gerle Creek Reservoir, and prime opportunities for fishing, hiking, and non-motorized boating.

Located approximately 27 miles north of Highway 50 via Ice House Road and Forest Road 33, this campground sits at an elevation of 5,300 feet, providing cooler summer temperatures and easy access to outdoor recreation. While rustic in design, it features essential amenities like picnic tables, fire rings, and vault toilets, though there is no piped water available. The nearby Gerle Creek Divide Reservoir offers trout fishing, swimming, and gentle paddling opportunities, complementing the area’s short hiking trails such as the accessible Harvest Trail.
