Campground Overview
About Andrew Jackson State Park
Situated just nine miles north of Lancaster, South Carolina, Andrew Jackson State Park Campground offers a tranquil blend of history, natural beauty, and outdoor recreation. This compact yet inviting campground is defined by its lakeside setting, serene wooded environment, and proximity to historical landmarks that celebrate the boyhood of the seventh U.S. president.
The campground features 25 well-maintained sites, each equipped with electric and water hookups. Five paved pull-through sites accommodate RVs up to 36 feet, while the remaining gravel sites handle RVs up to 30 feet. Amenities include modern restrooms with hot showers, a dump station, picnic tables, fire rings, and a playground. A short walk from the sites leads to fishing spots at the peaceful 18-acre lake, where anglers can find bass, catfish, and bream. The park also supports boating activities, with jon boats and canoes available for rent, and offers a pair of easy nature trails for hiking and wildlife viewing.
Beyond the campground, Andrew Jackson State Park is a haven for history enthusiasts. The park’s museum and replica 18th-century schoolhouse provide a vivid look at colonial life and Andrew Jackson's upbringing. Visitors can also explore the "Boy of the Waxhaws" statue, a notable bronze sculpture by Anna Hyatt Huntington. For a day of exploration, the nearby Landsford Canal State Park, just 30 minutes away, features additional hiking trails and opportunities to connect with South Carolina’s rich historical tapestry.
