About Antelope Lake Recreation Area
Set against the serene backdrop of Antelope Lake, the Antelope Lake Recreation Area campgrounds redefine expectations for remote camping with their blend of tranquil lakefront settings, towering pine and fir forests, and seamless access to water activities. Ideal for those seeking solitude and outdoor adventure, these campgrounds cater to both tent and RV campers, featuring sites that range from shaded forest enclaves to direct lakeside access.
The campgrounds, located at a refreshing 5,000-foot elevation in the Plumas National Forest, offer 15 miles of shoreline and access to a variety of activities, including fishing for rainbow trout and bass, boating, swimming, and hiking. Amenities include picnic tables, fire rings with grills, vault toilets, drinking water, and bear-proof storage, but note that the RV dump station is currently closed. For added convenience, firewood and essential supplies are available on-site or in nearby Taylorsville, 30 miles away.
Antelope Lake’s unspoiled beauty is complemented by its location near protected coves that attract migratory birds and its proximity to outdoor recreation trails. The area, accessible via scenic routes from towns like Janesville and Greenville, invites visitors to relax amidst natural splendor or enjoy an active itinerary centered around the pristine lake environment.
