Anvil Lake Campground is an idyllic retreat set along the pristine shores of Anvil Lake within Wisconsin's Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. Offering 18 shaded campsites tucked beneath towering maple, hemlock, and white pine trees, this campground strikes a balance between natural seclusion and access to outdoor activities. The crystal-clear 377-acre Anvil Lake provides excellent opportunities for swimming, fishing, and boating, while a serene sandy beach and a historic CCC-built log shelter enhance its charm.
The campground features a mix of tent and RV sites, each equipped with picnic tables, fire rings, and designated parking spurs, complemented by accessible vault toilets and drinking water. Trails are a highlight, with the adjacent Anvil National Recreation Trail connecting campers to a vast 40-mile trail network suitable for hiking and mountain biking. Other notable nearby trails include the Hidden Lakes Trail and Franklin Nature Trail. The campground is conveniently located just 9 miles east of Eagle River, offering quick access to local amenities and services.
