Campground Overview
About Austin County Park
Perched along the serene banks of the Des Moines River, Austin County Park Campground offers a rustic yet charming escape for nature enthusiasts seeking tranquility and easy water access. This compact campground features 13 non-reservable campsites, each equipped with gravel pads and electrical hookups (20, 30, and 50 amps). The newly added concrete boat ramp and kayak launch enhance its appeal for paddlers and anglers, offering seamless access to the river for adventures downstream toward Keosauqua and beyond.
The campground’s amenities are modest yet practical, including potable water from two hydrants, a shelter house for communal gatherings, and porta-potties near the entrance. Its riverside location just northeast of Pittsburg provides a quiet, scenic setting, while Keosauqua—a 10-minute drive south—offers small-town charm and additional access points to explore Van Buren County’s picturesque landscapes. Ideal for weekend retreats or riverside excursions, Austin County Park embodies a balance of simplicity and natural beauty, perfect for those who value a peaceful outdoor experience.
