Campground Overview
About Bagley Rapids Campground
Immersed in the soothing sounds of flowing water, Bagley Rapids Campground offers a tranquil retreat along the lively North Branch Oconto River, making it a prime destination for trout fishing, rustic relaxation, and riverside camping. Approximately one-third of its 30 campsites are positioned directly beside the river, allowing campers to enjoy water activities such as canoeing, swimming, and rafting with remarkable convenience. The campground's forested setting, surrounded by towering pines, enhances the sense of seclusion and natural beauty while providing modest comforts like fire rings, picnic tables, vault toilets, and potable water from hand pumps.
Located just five minutes south of the town of Mountain in Wisconsin's Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, the campground is an excellent base for exploring nearby attractions. Adventurers can visit the historic Mountain Fire Lookout Tower for panoramic views of the forest or stroll through Cathedral Pines, a preserved grove of old-growth pines and hemlocks. With medium weekend usage and quieter weekdays, Bagley Rapids Campground is well-suited for weekend getaways or peaceful midweek escapes where nature takes center stage.
