About Bastrop State Park

Do you expect a campground to be defined by towering pines and serene landscapes? Bastrop State Park defies expectations as it showcases an inspiring recovery story of nature, set within the unique "Lost Pines" ecosystem of Central Texas. This campground, located just east of Bastrop, Texas, offers a captivating blend of natural beauty, fascinating history, and modern convenience.

The campground features four distinct camping areas—Piney Hill, Deer Run, Creekside, and Copperas Creek—catering to a variety of camping styles. With 78 well-equipped sites, including full hookups for RVs and primitive walk-in tent sites, it provides options for both comfort seekers and adventurers. Each campsite includes basic amenities like picnic tables, fire rings, and grills, while the park also offers fully air-conditioned cabins and group camps. On-site facilities include restrooms with hot showers, a seasonal swimming pool, and a park store for essentials.

The park’s scenic setting is part of the Lost Pines Forest and showcases thriving loblolly pines amidst its continued recovery from the 2011 wildfire. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy over seven miles of hiking and biking trails, fishing at Lake Mina (no license required), or simply relaxing amidst the peaceful surroundings. Families will appreciate the playground and picnic areas, while birdwatchers and wildlife enthusiasts can spot rare species such as the endangered Houston toad.

Bastrop State Park is located just about 5 minutes from downtown Bastrop and is a 32-mile drive from Austin. Within 30 minutes, you'll also find Buescher State Park, connected via the scenic Park Road 1C, ideal for cyclists and sightseers. Whether you’re seeking a tranquil weekend escape or an extended retreat into nature and history, Bastrop State Park offers an authentic, rejuvenating camping experience.
