About Bay View State Park
Offering tranquil views of Padilla Bay and the San Juan Islands, Bay View State Park defies typical camping expectations with its blend of coastal charm and modern amenities. This 66-acre park features 1,285 feet of saltwater shoreline, allowing campers to enjoy activities such as bird watching, beach exploration, and water sports like kayaking and paddleboarding. Its proximity to the Breazeale Padilla Bay Interpretive Center adds an educational and ecological dimension, making it a unique destination for families and nature lovers.
The campground caters to a variety of camping styles, with 46 standard sites, 30 partial-hookup RV spaces, and six cozy wooden cabins nestled among Douglas fir trees. Cabins offer conveniences like heat, lights, and refrigerators, with some including indoor bathrooms. Campers can also enjoy upgraded restrooms, pay showers, fire pits, and picnic facilities. The beach is easily accessible, and low-tide mudflats offer unique opportunities for exploration. While the vegetation-cleared northern campsites may lack privacy, others provide secluded spots ideal for relaxation.
Located just 14 miles east of Anacortes and 7 miles west of Burlington, Bay View State Park is perfectly positioned for day trips to nearby attractions. Visitors can explore the Padilla Bay Shore Trail or relax with a quiet walk along the beach. Its serene setting and activities make it an excellent choice for extended vacations, weekend getaways, or peaceful stopovers.
