Campground Overview
About Bear Canyon Campground
Bear Canyon Campground, located just off the Nebo Loop National Scenic Byway near Nephi, Utah, offers a rustic retreat at the edge of the Mount Nebo Wilderness. With breathtaking views of the Wasatch Range, sparse shade from aspen and fir trees, and a grassy meadow setting, this campground combines open spaces with proximity to pristine natural beauty. Its seclusion, scenic backdrop, and access to nearby trails make it ideal for nature enthusiasts seeking a quiet mountain escape.
The campground features six single campsites and three reservable group sites, all equipped with picnic tables, fire rings, and paved parking areas. Although vault toilets are available, there is no water on-site, so visitors should bring their own supply. Outdoor activities abound, with the Bear Canyon Trail, suitable for hiking, horseback riding, and biking, beginning at the campground entrance. Salt Creek offers opportunities for rainbow trout fishing, while nearby attractions include the Devil's Kitchen Geological Area, just six miles away along the scenic byway.
Situated approximately 10 miles from Nephi, the campground provides convenient access to the majestic Nebo Loop Scenic Byway, a 37-mile route known for its alpine landscapes, dense forests, and colorful meadows. The adjacent Mount Nebo Wilderness Area offers abundant wildlife, vibrant summer wildflowers, and numerous trail systems for exploration, making Bear Canyon Campground an excellent base for outdoor adventures and weekend getaways.
