Campground Overview
About Bear Lake Campground
Set along the tranquil shores of Bear Lake in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, Bear Lake Campground blends quiet charm, excellent fishing, and immersive woodland surroundings that make it a perfect retreat for nature enthusiasts. Its 27 campsites, including five walk-in tent-only sites on a scenic wooded peninsula, offer varied options for campers with views of the 68-acre lake. The campground's prohibition on gas-powered boats ensures a peaceful atmosphere, ideal for canoeing, kayaking, or fishing for northern pike and largemouth bass.
Located about 5.5 miles north of Wabeno, Wisconsin, the campground is surrounded by a mix of hardwoods and pines, offering a serene, shaded environment. Amenities include drinking water, vault toilets, a sandy swim beach, picnic areas, and a paved boat landing. The campground also provides access to the nearby Rat River Recreational Trail and trout-rich waters of the Peshtigo and Rat Rivers, making it a great base for both relaxation and adventure.
