About Beaver Lake State Park
Could you imagine a more serene retreat than Beaver Lake State Park Campground, where the gently rolling prairies of southern North Dakota meet the calm waters of Beaver Lake? This charming destination offers peaceful isolation, scenic beauty, and a rich historical backdrop. Whether you prefer the comfort of modern camping with electrical and water hookups or the simplicity of primitive sites, the campground caters to diverse camping preferences.
Located 17 miles southeast of Napoleon, the park spans 283 picturesque acres along the lake’s western shore. Campers can immerse themselves in a range of activities, from hiking and biking along more than five miles of trails to fishing or boating on the quiet lake. The park features 25 modern campsites, five primitive sites, and three cozy camping cabins, all positioned within easy proximity to the lake. Amenities include flush toilets, showers, picnic shelters, a swim beach, a boat ramp, and a playground, ensuring comfort without overshadowing the natural landscape.
The historical charm of Beaver Lake State Park is woven into its trails and landmarks, such as a historic cairn honoring early settlers. Visitors can hike or bike along paths that reveal sweeping views of the lake, serene prairie landscapes, and traces of the area’s storied past. For those venturing beyond the park, the nearby town of Wishek offers additional amenities and a connection to the region’s local culture, all within a short drive.
