Campground Overview
About Big Eddy Park
Set along the serene banks of the Nehalem River, Big Eddy Park offers a tranquil camping experience known for its lush forested surroundings, riverside ambiance, and a mix of recreation opportunities that appeal to both families and outdoor enthusiasts. Its distinctive appeal lies in the large evergreen and deciduous trees that provide shade in the summer, vibrant foliage in the fall, and a sense of immersion in nature that is hard to match.
Big Eddy Park features 35 campsites, including 14 paved RV hookups accommodating up to 50-foot rigs, all equipped with picnic tables and fire rings. Amenities include modern restrooms, hot showers, and a small boat launch, while the open grassy areas, playground, and horseshoe pits make it equally enjoyable for families. The park’s riverside location offers prime opportunities for fishing, canoeing, birding, and even stargazing thanks to its dark sky setting. Nearby, the Banks-Vernonia Linear State Park and Trail, the 23-mile CZ Trail, and the Jewell Elk Refuge offer additional activities, making it a great base for outdoor exploration within a short drive.
Located just eight miles north of Vernonia, Oregon, on Highway 47, Big Eddy Park is an accessible yet peaceful retreat. Whether you’re seeking a weekend getaway, a stopover en route to other destinations, or an extended vacation filled with nature and relaxation, this campground provides a well-rounded and memorable camping experience.
