About Blue Mound State Park
Towering above southern Wisconsin at 1,719 feet, Blue Mound State Park Campground offers a unique blend of high-altitude recreation, breathtaking panoramic views, and a serene camping experience. With 77 wooded campsites, including 12 hike-in or bike-in spots, the campground is well-suited for both adventurers and those seeking a peaceful retreat. Each site includes essentials like picnic tables and fire rings, while modern amenities, such as clean showers, flush toilets, and a dump station, ensure a comfortable stay.
The park is an outdoor enthusiast's haven, boasting over 20 miles of scenic trails for hiking, mountain biking, and cross-country skiing, as well as access to the Military Ridge State Trail. The swimming pool—heated and equipped with a splash pad—is the only one of its kind in a Wisconsin state park, offering an exclusive summer feature. Additionally, two observation towers provide stunning views of the Baraboo Bluffs and surrounding countryside. The nearby Cave of the Mounds, just a short drive away, adds an exciting day-trip option to this destination.
