Campground Overview
About Boca Chita Key Campground
Boca Chita Key Campground offers a unique island escape accessible only by boat, where campers are greeted by an iconic lighthouse and panoramic views of Biscayne Bay. This rustic outpost in Biscayne National Park provides a rare opportunity to camp on a small, secluded key with limited amenities but abundant natural beauty.
The campground features a grassy area for pitching tents, with picnic tables and grills scattered throughout. Basic restrooms are available, but there are no showers or potable water sources. A half-mile hiking trail circles the island, offering glimpses of coastal vegetation and wildlife. The 65-foot lighthouse, built in the 1930s, serves as the island's centerpiece and provides stunning vistas from its observation deck when open.
Located just north of Elliott Key in Biscayne National Park, Boca Chita Key is about an hour's boat ride from the mainland. The surrounding waters offer excellent opportunities for snorkeling, fishing, and wildlife viewing, with crystal-clear shallows revealing vibrant marine ecosystems. The campground serves as an ideal base for exploring the park's underwater wonders or simply unwinding on a remote tropical key.
