About Browne Lake Group Sites
Set against the serene backdrop of Browne Lake in the Ashley National Forest, this high-altitude campground defies expectations with a combination of well-maintained amenities, access to adventurous trails, and idyllic lakeside scenery. At 8,200 feet, the campground is ideal for groups seeking solitude in nature, offering four reservable group sites, each equipped with picnic tables and campfire circles, surrounded by towering pines and aspens.
The lake itself offers excellent opportunities for non-motorized boating and fishing, with species like rainbow trout, brook trout, and kokanee salmon populating its waters. Nearby trails, including the Leidy Peak Trailhead, cater to hikers, ATV enthusiasts, and mountain bikers eager to explore the rugged beauty of the surrounding area. Vault toilets are available on-site, and while there are no water hookups or trash services, the tranquility and recreational opportunities more than compensate.
Located approximately 30 minutes from the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area, Browne Lake Group Sites provide easy access to world-class fishing, scenic drives, and outdoor adventures on the Green River and Flaming Gorge Reservoir. This campground makes an excellent base for weekend escapes and family retreats, blending stunning natural beauty with diverse recreation.
