Campground Overview
About Canal Creek Campground
Canal Creek Campground, located in the lush Siuslaw National Forest near Waldport, Oregon, offers campers an exceptionally serene setting defined by dense canopies of Douglas fir and spruce, the melodic flow of Canal Creek, and the seclusion of its two group-only camping areas. This campground is ideal for those seeking a peaceful escape, with minimal noise and light pollution, perfect for reconnecting with nature.
The two reservable group sites at Canal Creek are distinct. Site 1 spans a large open field accessible by fording the gentle creek and includes a picnic shelter, a campfire circle, and space for up to 100 people, though it is not suitable for RVs. Site 2, more intimate, accommodates 50 campers and features 10 smaller campsites encircling a shared dining area with tables and a campfire circle. While vault toilets are available, both sites lack drinking water and utility hookups, encouraging a more rustic experience. Nearby activities such as hiking, tubing, fishing, and crawfishing add to its outdoor appeal.
Located just 11 miles east of Waldport along Highway 34, this campground is only a 20-minute drive from coastal attractions, including the sandy beaches near Alsea Bay and the dramatic vistas of Cape Perpetua Scenic Area. Whether visiting for a group gathering or a weekend retreat, Canal Creek Campground offers a harmonious blend of natural beauty, tranquility, and accessible recreation.
