Campground Overview
About Coho Campground
Perched along the tranquil west shores of Wynoochee Lake in the Olympic National Forest, Coho Campground seamlessly blends serene lakefront beauty with well-maintained amenities, creating an ideal retreat for campers seeking nature's quietude and outdoor adventure. Enveloped by towering conifers and hardwoods, this campground offers an immersive forest experience with easy access to water-based recreation, forested trails, and unique accommodations like yurts.
With 44 campsites accommodating tents, trailers, and RVs up to 36 feet in length, Coho Campground caters to both solo adventurers and group gatherings, including two group sites for up to 16 people and nine walk-in sites for added seclusion. For a cozier alternative, three yurts feature decks overlooking the lake, heating, and electric lights—perfect for all-weather camping. Modern conveniences such as flush toilets, potable water, picnic tables, and fire rings enhance comfort while preserving the rustic charm. The nearby boat launch, RV dump station, and trails, including the 16-mile Wynoochee Lake Shore Trail, make it a hub for hiking, boating, fishing, and wildlife spotting.
Located just 35 miles north of Montesano, Washington, the campground is surrounded by natural attractions within a short drive. Wynoochee Dam offers sunset-worthy vistas and interpretive exhibits, while Spoon Creek and Wynoochee Falls delight with scenic beauty accessible via short hikes. Whether for a weekend family escape or an extended outdoor getaway, Coho Campground strikes a perfect balance between accessibility and pristine wilderness.
