About Cold Springs Campground
Isolated yet easily accessible, Cold Springs Campground in the Arapaho-Roosevelt National Forest offers a serene retreat for campers seeking a blend of immersive natural beauty and versatile outdoor activities. Located at an elevation of 9,200 feet, this campground is shaded by aspen and lodgepole pines, providing an idyllic mountain setting just five miles north of Black Hawk, Colorado, along the scenic Highway 119.
With 38 campsites equipped with picnic tables, fire rings, and tent pads, this family-friendly campground can accommodate tents and RVs up to 40 feet, though some sites are better suited for smaller vehicles. Vault toilets, water hydrants, and a children’s playground add to the convenience, while gravel interior roads accentuate the rustic mountain experience. Nearby, the short Vista Trail rewards hikers with panoramic views of the Mount Evans Wilderness, and the area’s creeks, rivers, and lakes are a haven for fishing enthusiasts. Adventurers will also find numerous off-road jeep trails and scenic drives via the Peak to Peak Scenic Byway.
Within 30 minutes, visitors can explore the historic charm of Central City or the diverse recreational offerings of Golden Gate Canyon State Park. Cold Springs Campground is an excellent choice for weekend getaways or longer escapes, balancing quiet forested seclusion with accessible outdoor adventure.
