Cottonwood Beach Campground

Situated on the eastern shore of the Alcova Reservoir, Cottonwood Beach Campground offers a serene retreat where rolling waters meet expansive views, creating a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. Its standout features include direct access to water activities, the scenic Dinosaur Trail, and a low-key atmosphere ideal for unwinding after a day of exploration.

This campground provides primitive camping with first-come, first-served sites, each equipped with picnic tables and fire rings. Other amenities include vault toilets, a public boat ramp, and a large reservable group shelter. While there are no water or utility hookups, visitors can enjoy Alcova Reservoir’s offerings, including fishing for trout and walleye, boating, and hiking the nearby interpretive Dinosaur Trail. The campground's proximity to Casper—a 30-minute drive—adds convenience for supplies or urban exploration.

Cottonwood Beach Campground is an excellent base for weekend escapes, day trips, or extended stays, embracing Wyoming’s natural beauty with its peaceful environment, water-centric recreation, and easy access to famed local attractions such as the Pathfinder Bird Refuge and the Alcova Dam.
