About D. L. Bliss State Park
Perched along the stunning western shore of Lake Tahoe, D.L. Bliss State Park Campground offers an unparalleled mix of pristine beaches, breathtaking lake views, and immersive hiking trails. This captivating destination charms campers with its close proximity to iconic natural landmarks, including Calawee Cove and the Rubicon Trail, as well as its diverse camping options, ranging from traditional family sites to boat-in primitive settings.
The campground boasts 165 well-spaced sites accommodating tents and smaller RVs, each equipped with a picnic table, food locker, and fire ring. Restrooms with flush toilets and paid showers are available, though no hookups are provided. For adventure seekers, the park’s Rubicon Trail begins nearby, offering sweeping vistas of Lake Tahoe, while the sandy shores of Lester Beach and Calawee Cove promise refreshing swims and relaxing sunbathing. Wildlife encounters, including sightings of American black bears, are common, emphasizing the need for proper food storage to preserve the area's natural balance.
Located approximately 17 miles north of South Lake Tahoe along Highway 89, D.L. Bliss State Park is adjacent to Emerald Bay State Park, opening up opportunities to explore Vikingholm Castle and Eagle Falls within a short drive. Despite its ongoing closures until summer 2025, day-use access to Lester Beach, Calawee Cove, and select trails remains available via nearby Emerald Bay. This makes D.L. Bliss a cherished gateway to Lake Tahoe’s natural wonders for both serene getaways and adventure-filled escapes.
