Campground Overview

About Day Board Nine Campground

What sets Dayboard Nine Campground apart is its exclusivity and remote charm—accessible only by boat, this six-site campground offers a unique escape where the call of canyon walls and serene lake waters replace the usual campground bustle. Tucked within the Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area, it combines the allure of isolation with a sense of adventure, making it a destination for those seeking tranquility amidst breathtaking sandstone cliffs and pristine waters.

Each campsite at Dayboard Nine is thoughtfully equipped with a picnic table, fire ring, and bear-safe storage, accommodating up to two tents per site. A floating dock and restrooms enhance convenience during the season, typically available from late May through September. The surrounding area, including a grassy landing spot, caters perfectly to non-motorized boaters, adding to the campground's distinctive charm. Firewood might be scarce later in the season due to high usage, but it’s often abundant early on, so plan accordingly.

Located approximately nine miles south of the Ok-A-Beh Marina, this campground is a gateway to exploring the grandeur of Bighorn Lake and its towering canyon walls. Nearby, the Yellowtail Dam Visitor Center is an ideal stop for panoramic views and insights into the area’s natural and cultural history, all within a short journey. This campground is ideal for adventurous paddlers, quiet weekend getaways, and anyone eager for an immersive, nature-focused retreat.
