Campground Overview
About Deer Park Campground
Rugged wilderness meets celestial splendor at Deer Park Campground, where campers find themselves perched at 5,400 feet in the Olympic Mountains. This remote, tent-only sanctuary offers unparalleled stargazing, panoramic alpine vistas, and a true backcountry experience, all accessible by vehicle.
The 14 primitive sites are scattered among subalpine meadows bursting with wildflowers in summer, providing a serene basecamp for hikers and nature enthusiasts. Each site features a fire pit and picnic table, with pit toilets available but no potable water. The campground's high elevation and exposed position create a unique microclimate, with crisp nights and occasional strong winds adding to the wild ambiance.
Located 16 miles up a winding gravel road from Port Angeles, Deer Park serves as a gateway to the Olympic National Park wilderness. Nearby trails lead deep into the park's interior, offering day hikes with sweeping views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the Olympic range. Wildlife sightings, particularly of the campground's namesake deer, are common in the surrounding meadows and forests.
