About Devils Head Campground
Devil's Head Campground, located approximately 20 miles southwest of Sedalia, Colorado, within Pike National Forest, offers a rustic and serene camping experience surrounded by towering rock formations and stunning pine forests. This first-come, first-served campground is highly prized for its proximity to the Devil's Head Fire Lookout Tower, a historic landmark accessed by a challenging 1.4-mile trail with an elevation gain of 940 feet. The panoramic views at the tower's summit stretch over 100 miles on clear days—an unforgettable highlight for any visitor.
The campground features 21 primitive campsites suitable for tents and RVs up to 30 feet in length. Each site is equipped with picnic tables and fire rings, while vault toilets and trash facilities are available. Potable water is not provided, so campers must bring their own or plan to treat water if needed. Expect minimal frills but well-maintained grounds, making it an ideal destination for those seeking a peaceful retreat immersed in natural beauty.
Located along Rampart Range Road, the campground is also a gateway to various outdoor adventures, including hiking and off-highway vehicle (OHV) trails. Wildlife enthusiasts and photographers will appreciate the area's lush scenery and opportunities for spotting local fauna. Devil's Head Campground is easily accessible from Denver, just over an hour’s drive away, and provides an excellent base for weekend getaways or extended stays in the breathtaking Colorado wilderness.
