The campground is set amid light tree cover with grassy and gravel pads, offering modest shade and easy access to the river. Amenities include restrooms, showers, picnic areas, a pavilion, and a small boat launch suitable for canoes, kayaks, and small motorboats. Visitors will find no electrical or water hookups, lending to the park’s back-to-basics charm. Although relatively small, the park's proximity to Black Lake—a mere two miles upstream—provides additional opportunities for fishing and boating. Swimming is not available, but the calm river waters are perfect for wildlife observation and paddling adventures.
Located just eight miles south of Ogdensburg in St. Lawrence County, Eel Weir State Park is an excellent base for day trips to nearby outdoor attractions such as Black Lake or the St. Lawrence State Park Golf Course.
