Campground Overview
About Fiddle Creek Campground
Perched alongside the North Yuba River, Fiddle Creek Campground offers a serene retreat for tent campers seeking a rustic experience in the heart of Tahoe National Forest. This intimate campground, with just 15 sites, provides a perfect balance of natural beauty, seclusion, and access to outdoor recreation.
The campground stretches along the riverbank, shaded by a diverse canopy of oak, maple, locust, and pine trees. Each site is equipped with the essentials: a picnic table, fire ring, and bear-proof food locker. While the campground maintains a primitive feel with vault toilets and no RV hookups, it does offer the convenience of drinking water from spigots. The sites, though close to parking areas, require a short walk-in, enhancing the sense of immersion in nature.
Located just 12 miles from the historic town of Downieville, Fiddle Creek serves as an excellent base for exploring the region. The North Yuba River, steps away from the campsites, invites visitors to enjoy swimming, fishing for rainbow trout, and seasonal water activities like rafting and kayaking. Hikers will appreciate easy access to the North Yuba Trail via a footbridge at the nearby Rocky Rest Campground. The surrounding Tahoe National Forest offers a vast network of trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding, all within a short drive.
