Campground Overview
About Firehole Canyon Campground
A striking contrast to the heavily wooded campgrounds of the region, Firehole Canyon Campground is set in a high desert landscape where sagebrush and Russian olive trees dot the terrain, offering minimal shade but expansive views of Flaming Gorge Reservoir and the surrounding red rock cliffs. Located 29 miles south of Rock Springs, Wyoming, in the northeastern reaches of Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area, this campground provides easy access to a wealth of water-based recreational activities and stunning vistas.
Each of the 36 campsites is equipped with a cabana, picnic table, and campfire ring, ensuring a comfortable outdoor experience. The campground features paved roads and parking spurs, flush toilets, showers, and drinking water. A boat ramp and a sandy beach are adjacent, making it an ideal destination for boating, fishing, swimming, and water skiing enthusiasts. The reservoir offers excellent fishing opportunities, while the nearby Flaming Gorge Dam, with guided tours and a visitor center, provides a fascinating day trip option less than 30 minutes away.
Firehole Canyon Campground's blend of rugged desert beauty, excellent facilities, and proximity to the shimmering waters of Flaming Gorge Reservoir makes it a popular choice for both weekend getaways and extended adventures, particularly for those seeking water recreation and panoramic scenery.
