The area is family-friendly, with two playgrounds in the day-use area, and a network of trails connects campers to the historic Pierre Menard Home, a preserved 19th-century structure, adding to the richness of the experience. Quiet hours are enforced from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM, ensuring a peaceful atmosphere.
Located near Ellis Grove, Illinois, and just a short drive from Chester, this campground serves as a gateway to exploring the remnants of Fort Kaskaskia, Garrison Hill Cemetery, and interpretive panels recounting the area's colonial past.
