What sets Fort Robinson State Park campground apart is its remarkable blend of history, natural beauty, and diverse amenities. Located amidst the dramatic Pine Ridge in western Nebraska, this campground offers easy access to over 22,000 acres of scenic landscapes, historic sites, and abundant outdoor recreation opportunities, all just three miles west of Crawford.
The campground features three distinct areas: Red Cloud, Soldier Creek, and Mare Barn. Red Cloud Campground provides 74 full-hookup sites, while Soldier Creek offers 77 electric sites and a shaded setting close to Soldier Creek. Mare Barn caters to equestrians with dedicated facilities. Campers benefit from modern restrooms, showers, picnic tables, fire rings, and a dump station. A coin-operated laundry facility is also available near Mare Barn. With options ranging from full hookups to basic campsites, the variety caters to both RV travelers and tent campers.
Fort Robinson’s location enhances the camping experience further. Visitors can hike or bike on 60 miles of trails, fish in the park’s streams and ponds, or even explore on horseback or by Jeep. The park’s historic significance is highlighted by a museum and preserved fort buildings, including the site of the 1879 Cheyenne Outbreak. Additionally, the nearby Trailside Museum enriches the visit with regional natural history exhibits.
