Gambrill State Park campground in Frederick, Maryland, redefines a relaxing forest retreat with its scenic overlooks, intimate campsite layout, and proximity to outdoor adventures. Nestled on the slopes of Catoctin Mountain, the campground offers a mix of tent, RV, and cabin accommodations, making it ideal for both quick getaways and extended stays.
The campground features 29 well-designed sites, including nine tent-only spots and six with electric hookups, as well as four rustic camper cabins equipped with electricity. Each site includes a picnic table, fire ring, and lantern post, with amenities centered around a bathhouse providing hot showers and flush toilets. For nature enthusiasts, the campground’s access to over 16 miles of multi-use trails is a highlight—these range from family-friendly walks like the White Oak Trail to more challenging routes leading to stunning stone overlook platforms originally built by the Civilian Conservation Corps.
