About Gate Campground

Carved into the unique geologic formation known as The Gate and set along the pristine Lake Fork of the Gunnison River, The Gate Campground in Powderhorn, Colorado, offers an unmatched blend of scenic beauty, serenity, and outdoor recreation opportunities. With just eight campsites, this Bureau of Land Management (BLM) campground delivers a quiet, intimate camping experience ideal for those seeking respite amidst Colorado's rugged landscapes, paired with easy river access for fishing and picnicking.

The campground is equipped with essential amenities, including vault toilets and a hand pump for potable water, while operating on a pack-it-in, pack-it-out basis to preserve its natural charm. Some of the sites, shaded by trees, are nestled closer to the river, while others are conveniently accessible but located near Highway 149.
