Greendale Campground

What sets Greendale Campground apart is its intimate size and serene atmosphere, surrounded by towering ponderosa pines, vibrant summer wildflowers, and grassy meadows. Located in the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area within the Ashley National Forest, this campground sits at 6,900 feet elevation, just a few miles from its namesake reservoir. Greendale features eight well-maintained single campsites on the west side of the road, all equipped with picnic tables and fire rings with grills. On the east side, there are two group sites accommodating up to 40 people each. These offer an ideal setting for gatherings, but note that while roads and spurs on the west are paved, those on the east are dirt. Amenities include drinking water (seasonally available from mid-May to mid-September) and vault toilets, ensuring basic comfort without detracting from the rustic experience.

Within a short drive, visitors can explore the Flaming Gorge Reservoir, known for world-class fishing, boating, kayaking, and other water activities, or walk the nearby Bear Canyon Trail with its stunning views of Red Canyon and the reservoir. For a bit of history and adventure, the Flaming Gorge Dam offers guided tours, while the Green River below promises outstanding rafting opportunities. With Dutch John, Utah, just a few miles away, basic conveniences are easily accessible, making this campground ideal for weekend getaways or nature-focused stays.
