Located at the base of the magnificent Crazy Mountains, Halfmoon Campground offers a serene retreat where rugged wilderness meets impressive mountain vistas. This small, first-come, first-served campground is a prime choice for nature enthusiasts, featuring just 12 campsites that cater to both tent and RV campers, though larger trailers may find the access road challenging.

Situated at an elevation of 6,500 feet, the campground is surrounded by mature forests and lies adjacent to Big Timber Creek, a vibrant waterway perfect for fly fishing and extreme kayaking. Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table, fire ring, and bear-proof food storage, with amenities including vault toilets and seasonal hand-pumped drinking water. Beyond the campsite, the Big Timber Creek Trailhead provides direct access to hiking, horseback riding, and wildlife viewing in the Crazy Mountains. Just a short quarter-mile trek away, Big Timber Falls offers spectacular scenery, while adventurous visitors can explore glacial lakes or tackle technical mountain summits.
