Campground Overview
About Hallsted Campground
Perched alongside the scenic Feather River Canyon, Hallsted Campground offers a refreshing mountain retreat with a blend of natural beauty, modern amenities, and easy access to outdoor adventures. This recently renovated campground boasts spacious sites, some with electrical hookups, set among mature pines and firs that provide ample shade and a quintessential Sierra Nevada atmosphere.
The 20 well-maintained campsites accommodate both tents and RVs, each equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. Campers appreciate the upgraded facilities, including flush toilets, hot showers, and a new walking path that meanders through the forest down to the North Fork of the Feather River. The campground's proximity to the river makes it an ideal base for fly fishing enthusiasts and those seeking to cool off with a swim during warm summer days.
Located just off Highway 70, Hallsted Campground sits at an elevation of 2,300 feet, offering a cool escape from valley heat while remaining easily accessible. The nearby Feather River National Scenic Byway provides a stunning drive through the river gorge, showcasing historic railroad infrastructure and impressive hydroelectric powerhouses. For basic supplies, a general store in Twain is less than half a mile away, while the town of Quincy, about 17 miles east, offers more extensive services and amenities.
