Set along the serene shores of Portage Lake, the Hancock Recreation Area Campground in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula blends natural beauty with family-friendly amenities. With 28 acres of wooded landscapes, this campground offers ample opportunities for outdoor enjoyment, featuring a 300-foot sandy beach, a well-maintained boat launch, and trails for nature walks amid northern hardwoods and conifers. The campground caters to a variety of camping preferences with its 72 sites, including 58 RV sites with electric options and 14 tent sites.
Conveniently located just one mile west of downtown Hancock, campers are within minutes of local shops, restaurants, and attractions like the historic Quincy Mine and the A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum. The campground’s facilities ensure comfort and convenience, offering clean restrooms, showers, laundry facilities, picnic areas, and even a small playground for children. Visitors can enjoy fishing in the Portage Waterway, known for its northern pike, bass, and trout, or simply relax by the lake with stunning views of Michigan’s rugged Upper Peninsula.
