About Hazard Lake Campground

Surrounded by the serene stillness of a high-altitude lake and framed by dense Spruce and Lodgepole Pine forests, Hazard Lake Campground offers campers an authentic, off-the-grid escape at 7,051 feet elevation. Its no-wake Hazard Lake is ideal for peaceful kayaking, paddleboarding, or fishing, while the nearby trails cater to hikers, mountain bikers, and even equestrian adventurers.

This rustic campground features 12 first-come, first-served sites with basic amenities, including picnic tables, fire rings, and vault toilets, but you’ll need to bring your own water for drinking and cooking. The absence of cell service and modern conveniences enhances the tranquility, making it the perfect base for those yearning to disconnect and immerse in nature. From the campground, trails like Upper Hazard Lake Trail #169 provide direct access to expansive wilderness and scenic views.

Located 27 miles from McCall, Idaho, in the heart of the Payette National Forest, the campground is a gateway to exploring rugged landscapes, including nearby lakes and lush meadows bursting with wildflowers in summer. Accessible only by gravel roads, it’s a haven for those seeking solitude amid Idaho's untouched beauty.
