About Kamloops Island Campground
Where the Kettle River meets Lake Roosevelt, the Kamloops Island Campground offers a serene escape characterized by its shaded campsites, sweeping water views, and an intimate connection to the surrounding wilderness. This compact campground is defined by its natural charm, with a mix of RV and tent sites nestled amid a grove of pines, some perched along steep inclines, providing panoramic vistas of the river and lake.
The campground features 17 sites, including one ADA-accessible site, all equipped with picnic tables and fire pits. While vault toilets are available, there are no hookups or potable water, making it essential for campers to plan for self-sufficiency. The courtesy dock adds convenience for water enthusiasts, though a boat launch is not present. Kamloops Island’s tranquil atmosphere is ideal for fishing, wildlife viewing, or simply unwinding amid Eastern Washington’s characteristic vegetation.
Situated seven miles north of Kettle Falls, Kamloops Island Campground places visitors in proximity to unique attractions like the historic St. Paul’s Mission and scenic Sherman Drive, both within a 10-minute drive. Its location within the Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area ensures access to diverse recreational opportunities while maintaining a quiet, rustic camping experience.
