Perched alongside the pristine 1,400-acre Lake Fort Smith and framed by the dramatic Boston Mountains, Lake Fort Smith State Park Campground offers campers a unique blend of natural beauty, modern amenities, and adventure. This campground stands out with its spacious full-hookup RV sites, convenient proximity to the park’s visitor center and trails, and unparalleled access to the western terminus of the renowned Ozark Highlands Trail.
The campground features 30 well-appointed campsites, including 20 Class AAA sites with full hookups and 10 Class B sites with water and electricity. Two modern bathhouses with hot showers ensure comfort, while the surrounding facilities include a seasonal swimming pool, playgrounds, and picnic areas. For those seeking water adventures, the marina provides kayak and boat rentals, and a boat ramp is available for personal watercraft. Though swimming is prohibited in the lake, its clear waters are perfect for kayaking, fishing, and enjoying the serene mountain views.
Located just 15 minutes north of Mountainburg and a short drive from Interstate 49, this state park is a gateway to exceptional hiking, including the scenic Boston Mountain and Shepard Springs trails.
