About Lake Livingston State Park
Could you imagine camping next to one of Texas's largest lakes, where the tranquility of shimmering waters meets the towering pines of East Texas? Just an hour north of Houston, Lake Livingston State Park offers a lakeside escape with diverse recreational opportunities, comprehensive campground facilities, and unparalleled natural beauty.
This 635-acre park provides 147 campsites, ranging from primitive spots for a back-to-basics experience to full-hookup sites accommodating RVs up to 75 feet in length. Many sites, particularly those in the Piney Shores loop, boast direct lake views and waterfront access. Amenities include picnic tables, fire rings, restrooms with hot showers, and a well-maintained dump station for RVs. The camping experience is enriched by shaded areas and proximity to nature trails like the Trinity Trace, offering scenic hikes and wildlife viewing.
Lake Livingston itself, an 82,400-acre reservoir, is the centerpiece of the park, ideal for fishing, boating, paddling, and lake swimming. The park features three boat ramps, a fishing pier, and kayak rentals. For families, the park offers a swimming pool, group pavilions, and ranger-led programs. Nearby, the charming town of Livingston, just 15 minutes away, provides dining and shopping options, while attractions like the Polk County Memorial Museum and Lake Livingston Dam enhance the area’s appeal.
Whether you're planning a weekend retreat or a longer nature-focused getaway, Lake Livingston State Park’s combination of serene camping, lakeside fun, and convenient amenities makes it a premier destination.
