About Lake Wissota State Park
The Lake Wissota State Park campground in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, offers a serene retreat where towering pine forests meet expansive prairies, all along the shimmering 6,300-acre Lake Wissota. This campground is an excellent choice for those seeking a balance of natural beauty, recreational diversity, and peaceful seclusion, making it ideal for family vacations, weekend getaways, or extended stays.
The campground features 116 wooded sites, with 58 offering electrical hookups, accommodating both tent campers and RVs. Each site ensures privacy with partial-to-dense shade from the surrounding trees, and amenities include heated shower facilities, flush toilets, and a centralized playground for families. While none of the campsites are directly lakeside, many offer picturesque views of the water through the forested foliage. Additional conveniences include a nearby RV dump station, drinking water access, and a recycling station. For larger gatherings, two group campsites are available, accommodating up to 100 people.
Just minutes northeast of Chippewa Falls, the park spans 1,062 acres of diverse landscapes and connects campers to 18 miles of hiking and biking trails, some leading to scenic lake vistas. The lake’s sandy swimming beach, boat launches, and fishing piers create excellent opportunities for water recreation, while nearby trails such as the Old Abe State Trail extend your biking adventures. This location strikes a perfect chord between secluded camping and easy access to the outdoor activities of the Chippewa Valley.
