About Lakes Basin Campground

Could you imagine a camping retreat where glacial lakes mirror the craggy Sierra Buttes, and adventure begins right from your campsite? Lakes Basin Campground, located in the stunning Lakes Basin Recreation Area of California's Plumas National Forest, offers this and more. This serene campground is distinguished by its tranquil alpine setting, proximity to over 20 pristine glacial lakes, and access to a vast network of trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding.

Surrounded by fir and aspen trees, the campground features 22 well-maintained sites, accommodating tents, trailers, and RVs up to 30 feet in length. Each site is equipped with picnic tables, fire rings, and bear-proof food lockers, providing a safe and practical base for your outdoor adventures. Vault toilets, potable water, and a camp host enhance the experience, while the occasional stroll through granite boulders lends a unique ambiance. Visitors can enjoy non-motorized boating, swimming, or fishing at nearby Gold Lake, only 2 miles away, where anglers might reel in trout from its sparkling waters.

Located just 6 miles southwest of the quaint town of Graeagle, Lakes Basin Campground is perfectly positioned for day trips to attractions like the Frazier Falls Trail, Mills Peak Fire Lookout, or Plumas Eureka State Park. Whether it’s a family weekend getaway, a hiking-focused retreat, or a peaceful nature escape, this campground offers an unparalleled blend of rugged beauty and outdoor recreation.
