Campground Overview

About Line Creek Stock Campground

Can a campground offer solitude, historic charm, and unrivaled access to wilderness all in one? At Line Creek Stock Campground in northern Idaho's Panhandle National Forests, campers will find a unique blend of rustic seclusion and opportunities to explore the pristine beauty of the Wild and Scenic St. Joe River. This campground is purpose-built for campers with stock animals and also caters to adventurers seeking a remote yet accessible outdoor experience.

Set at 3,800 feet alongside the St. Joe River, the campground features nine pull-through sites, five of which are designed for stock reservations. Facilities include feed bunks, hitching posts, a corral, and highline poles, making it an ideal base for horseback riders. With no potable water available, campers must rely on the river for stock watering needs. Vault toilets and fire rings add essential conveniences, while the surrounding steep forested terrain provides a truly untamed backdrop.

Located 40 miles upstream of Avery, Idaho, Line Creek Stock Campground is a gateway to unspoiled wilderness. It offers trailheads with direct access to over 100 miles of non-motorized trails, including the picturesque St. Joe River Trail. Nearby, the historic Red Ives Ranger Station is a must-visit, and the river itself is a haven for catch-and-release trout fishing, swimming, and seasonal whitewater rafting. Whether for a weekend equestrian getaway, a serene fishing retreat, or an extended wilderness adventure, this remote campground is perfectly positioned to immerse visitors in Idaho's wild beauty.
