About Luna Lake

Where the serenity of a 75-acre lake meets the rugged beauty of an open ponderosa pine forest, Luna Lake Campground offers a quintessential Alpine, Arizona escape for outdoor enthusiasts. Situated at an impressive elevation of 8,000 feet in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest, this rustic destination provides prime access to fishing, hiking, wildlife viewing, and mountain biking, all within walking distance of the tranquil Luna Lake.

The campground features 50 single-family campsites, three large group sites, and basic facilities such as vault toilets, drinking water, picnic tables, and fire rings. Ideal for both tent and RV camping (up to 32 feet, though no hookups are available), the campground maintains a peaceful atmosphere. The proximity to the lakeshore—just 1/4 mile—ensures easy access to activities like trout fishing, birdwatching at the wetland, and boat rentals at the nearby day-use area. While rustic in nature, it’s well-suited for everything from weekend getaways to family gatherings.

Located just 5 miles east of the quaint town of Alpine, Luna Lake Campground is surrounded by an array of nearby attractions. Visitors can enjoy scenic drives along the Coronado Trail Scenic Byway, explore the rich biodiversity of the Escudilla Wilderness Area, or immerse themselves in the expansive recreation opportunities of the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest. With its tranquil ambiance and range of activities, Luna Lake Campground is a serene retreat for nature lovers and adventurers alike.
