Campground Overview
About Meadow Group Campground
What sets Meadow Group Campground apart is its prime location within the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument, offering group sites surrounded by majestic Coulter pines and scrub oaks. Perfect for larger gatherings or intimate getaways, this campground combines easy access to nature with facilities that support a comfortable outdoor experience, such as picnic tables, fire rings, and vault toilets.
Situated at 5,300 feet elevation, Meadow Group Campground delivers stunning views, abundant wildlife—including a variety of woodpeckers—and direct connections to hiking and equestrian trails, such as the Silver Moccasin Trail. Just 1.5 miles from the San Gabriel Wilderness and the Chilao Visitor Center, it’s an ideal base for exploring the Angeles National Forest's diverse landscapes and engaging in activities like birdwatching or stargazing. Accessible via the scenic Angeles Crest Highway (State Route 2), the campground also offers proximity to panoramic vista points showcasing the Mojave Desert, San Gabriel Mountains, and Pomona Valleys.
Visitors should note the rustic charm of the site, with no showers and limited water availability; bringing your own supply is essential. The campground's two group areas accommodate up to 24 and 80 people, respectively, making it suitable for both intimate family outings and larger organized events.
