Campground Overview
About Mill Bluff State Park
Towering sandstone bluffs rising abruptly from the surrounding flat terrain define the character of Mill Bluff State Park Campground, located near Camp Douglas, Wisconsin. This rustic campground offers campers intimate wooded sites with a back-to-nature atmosphere, enhanced by remarkable geological formations, a serene swimming pond, and accessible hiking trails.
The campground features 21 sites, six of which include electrical hookups. Amenities are simple, with vault toilets and hand-pumped drinking water ensuring a rustic experience. The centerpiece of the park is Mill Bluff itself, with its summit accessible via 223 historic stone steps constructed in the 1930s, offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. For shorter excursions, a self-guided 0.4-mile nature trail loops the base of the bluff, while the Camel’s Bluff Trail provides a longer trek through the unique mesa-like formations of the area. A small, spring-fed pond featuring a sandy beach is available for swimmers, creating an ideal spot for cooling off on warm days.
Located just off Interstate 90/94, Mill Bluff State Park is a convenient oasis for both extended stays and quick stopovers. Campers can explore the Ice Age National Scientific Reserve’s striking terrain or unwind with a picnic beneath the bluffs. This peaceful retreat combines natural wonder with accessibility, making it a distinctive choice for nature enthusiasts and road-trippers alike.
