About Molalla River Recreation Area
Tucked along the scenic Molalla Wild and Scenic River, the Molalla River Recreation Area campground offers a peaceful escape for nature enthusiasts, defined by its serene forested environment, access to pristine swimming holes, and excellent hiking opportunities. With 15 walk-in tent sites at Three Bears Campground and 11 at Cedar Grove Campground, this area provides a blend of privacy, natural beauty, and simplicity for those seeking a true outdoor experience.
Campers will find basic yet well-maintained amenities, including tent pads, picnic tables, fire rings, BBQ grills, and vault toilets. While potable water is available at Cedar Grove, about a mile from Three Bears, campers should plan ahead and bring their firewood as collection is prohibited. The campgrounds feature cobble beaches and swimming spots, perfect for cooling off or relaxing by the river. A network of trails caters to hikers, bikers, and equestrians, with the Hardy Creek Trailhead nearby, offering miles of multi-use paths through the forest.
Situated roughly 10 miles southeast of Molalla, Oregon, the campground lies in the heart of the Molalla River Corridor, a region celebrated for its undammed river, picturesque gorges, and recreational activities like fishing, kayaking, and wildlife observation. Within a short drive, visitors can explore the dramatic Table Rock Wilderness or enjoy other day-use areas along the river. The Molalla River Recreation Area is an excellent choice for weekend getaways, day trips, or longer stays amidst the natural splendor of Oregon’s rugged outdoors.
