Campground Overview
About Muskallonge Lake State Park
What makes Muskallonge Lake State Park truly stand out is its location between two distinct bodies of water: the serene Muskallonge Lake on one side and the powerful, rugged shoreline of Lake Superior on the other. This unique setting offers campers an exceptional balance of calm, warm waters for swimming and paddling, contrasting with the dramatic, colder waves of Lake Superior, ideal for rock hunting and scenic walks.
Spanning 217 acres in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, the campground features 159 sites catering to both tents and RVs, many equipped with electrical hookups. Thoughtfully designed, the sites in Section 1 and Section 2 offer lake views with an open layout, while Section 3 provides enhanced privacy with shaded, tree-lined spots. Modern amenities include well-maintained restrooms, hot showers, a playground, and a boat ramp, ensuring comfort and convenience. The park also provides direct access to the North Country National Scenic Trail, adding to its appeal for hikers and nature enthusiasts.
Located 28 miles northwest of Newberry, the park is perfectly positioned for exploring the wilderness and nearby attractions. Within a short walk, visitors can access Lake Superior’s rocky shores for agate hunting or enjoy Muskallonge Lake’s calmer waters for fishing and kayaking. For those seeking adventure, the park serves as a base for ORV enthusiasts with trails leading directly from the campground. This destination is ideal for weekend getaways, extended vacations, or as a tranquil stopover during a broader Upper Peninsula road trip.
