Campground Overview
About Navarro River Redwoods State Park
The Navarro River Redwoods State Park Campgrounds offer a striking blend of serene redwood groves and coastal landscapes, ideal for campers seeking simplicity, natural beauty, and unique environments. With two distinct camping options—the secluded Paul Dimmick Campground nestled among towering second-growth redwoods along the Navarro River and the Navarro Beach Campground perched where the river meets the Pacific, each location provides its own charm.
The Paul Dimmick Campground, situated along Highway 128 and surrounded by dense redwood forests, features 27 primitive campsites equipped with picnic tables and fire rings. Though there is no running water, the serenity and access to trails like the family-friendly Navarro Fire Access Trail make it a haven for nature enthusiasts. In contrast, the Navarro Beach Campground, just steps from the ocean, offers a raw beachside camping experience with open campsites featuring minimal privacy. Visitors enjoy exploring driftwood structures, watching coastal sunsets, and hiking nearby redwood trails. Both campgrounds are first-come, first-serve and cater to tent and small RV campers.
Located less than 10 minutes from Elk and two miles from the Highway 1 and 128 junction, the campgrounds are a prime base for exploring the Mendocino coast. Activities such as river fishing, kayaking, and swimming complement the scenic drives along the redwood-lined highway, making the park a perfect destination for day trips, weekend escapes, or brief stopovers.
