A tranquil retreat for those seeking solitude, North Fork Campground offers a serene escape within Tahoe National Forest, set alongside the picturesque North Fork of the American River. This remote campground is defined by its lush canopy of cedar, pine, and fir trees, scenic riverside location, and access to a variety of outdoor recreation, including a nearby swimming hole and excellent trout fishing opportunities.
The campground features 17 single-family sites catering to both tents and small RVs, with essentials like picnic tables, campfire rings, and vault toilets. Drinking water is available, but there are no RV hookups or dump stations. Trails in the surrounding area connect campers with hiking, off-highway vehicle routes, and access to the North Fork American Wild and Scenic River canyon. A short distance east along Interstate 80, visitors can explore Grouse Ridge Non-Motorized Area and Donner Summit for more hiking options.
Conveniently situated about 6.5 miles from Emigrant Gap and accessible via Texas Hill Road, this campground places you within a 30-minute drive of the Grouse Ridge trails and other stunning forested landscapes.
